Waiting

I am back at it! I feel bad that I haven't posted in quite a while, but I was waiting to see if I had more answers before I posted again. Unfortunately, I still don't have specific answers, so I figured I would give an update of what I do know.

First, I am an official Salesian Lay Missioner. In October, I spent two weeks attending online orientation sessions where I learned about St. John Bosco, the Salesian order, culture (our own and others), transitions, and other information that is important for my success abroad. The last day culminated with a virtual commissioning mass which can be found on the Salesian Lay Missioners' Facebook page if you would like to watch it.

Second, I have been in contact with my site partner. The Salesians try their best to send their missionaries in groups of at least two so that you have someone to share the experience with and lean on when things get difficult. Mary is very encouraging, and my conversations with her have reignited my excitement for mission. She is already in the field since she was commissioned last year, and she was able to take me on a virtual tour of our site. I was even able to say hello to some of the girls!

Finally, I still don't know exactly when I will be leaving. I am currently waiting on my visa to work in Bolivia. It has been almost three weeks since I sent it off, and I don't know when it will be approved. But I know that as soon as I get it, I will be booking a plane ticket. I hope that I am able to go either in the last week of November or the first week of December, but it all depends on whether or not I have a visa.

So at this time, I would like to ask for your help. Could you say a quick prayer that I am able to get my visa and get to Bolivia? Things could still change and borders could close. I am worried that I will just miss my window of opportunity as things are still so uncertain. I know God listens, especially when many people ask his help. Mary, Help of Christians, pray for us!
