Dear Students,
I can't believe how fast this year went and how strangely it it ended! As the school year drew to a close, it made me reflect on all that I have learned from being your teacher and all of the blessings I have received. So consider this a thank you note.
Thank you first for teaching me how to lead and how to set expectations. I knew that creating a classroom that was fair and studious would be one of the most difficult things that I had to learn. I had the book knowledge I needed, but not the practical skills. You taught me that I needed to be clear with what I expected, consistent in enacting rules and procedures, and most importantly, I had to care. You all taught me that the best thing that I could do was to get to know you. You taught me to loosen up a bit and have fun in between our serious studying. It is a lesson I won't soon forget.
Thank you for allowing me to watch you grow. I saw you grow spiritually as you developed a deeper love of the Lord. I saw you grow in confidence as you realized you could do things you weren't sure was possible. I saw you grow in kindness and understanding toward others. You learned from mistakes and forgave each other. I saw you grow as leaders. I loved seeing my middle school students during our school's Community Days. You led the younger students with patience and kindness, showing them how to do things without doing it for them (unless that was needed). I am so proud of all of you!
Thank you for all of the cards and kind words this past month. It means so much that so many of you took time out of your day to thank me for what I have done. It helps me remember the good times we have had, and I am honored that I was able to be a part of your lives like you were a part of mine.
Don't worry about next year. It may not look the same as this year, but change is good. You may be able to discover new things with your new teachers that you may not have discovered with us. I have heard that the new middle school teachers are fantastic! School itself might be different, too, because of Covid-19, but you have all proven this past quarter that you are capable of adapting to anything!
I will miss you and my Holy Spirit family next year, but I know I will have a prayer army taking care of me and any future students I may have. I hope to be able to share updates on mission work as long as I can still go.
Once again, thank you students for such a wonderful year. You have been such a blessing in my life. I know God has great plans for each of you!
Sincerely,
Miss Steffen
